MY process

My collages are assembled intuitively—there is no sketch, no predetermined plan, no formula.

Instead, the fabrics themselves guide the process. Piece by piece, a story begins to emerge: an imagined world where coexistence replaces control, where all living things thrive in harmony, and where a touch of magic still exists.

Built entirely from reclaimed textiles, each collage is discovered rather than designed.

DISCOVERED RATHER THAN DESIGNED

INSIDE MY STUDIO

the fabric- where do i find it?

For years, I have saved every leftover fabric scrap from my studio rather than sending it to the landfill. Many of these remnants originate from the reusable products I continue to make today.

What begins as a small offcut destined for the scrap bin may eventually become a flower, a cloud, a river, or an animal within a collage. Nothing is chosen in advance. The available fabrics—their colors, patterns, and textures—help shape the direction of each piece.

Those bins contain my fabric scraps- organized by theme- animals, space, ocean, plants, flowers, scenic, jungle, etc….each bin contains years worth of my collected fabric. For me, finding just the perfect piece, is like finding treasure.

constructing a collage

Every collage is built from hundreds—and often thousands—of individually cut fabric fragments.

The pieces are layered, stitched, rearranged, removed, and rebuilt repeatedly throughout the process. From a distance the works may appear painted, but up close the stitching, raw edges, texture, and dimensionality reveal their textile construction.

the details

I often think of the details as small stories hidden within larger stories. A single collage may contain hundreds of tiny discoveries waiting to be found.

the backside

The reverse of each collage reveals the hidden structure beneath the finished image—a network of stitching that holds together every layer, texture, and detail.

What appears effortless on the front is supported by thousands of individual decisions made throughout the construction process.

A WORLD BUILT FROM FABRIC

EACH COLLAGE BEGINS WITH FABRIC SCRAPS…WHAT EMERGES IS SOMETHING ELSE ENTIRELY.
